Todmorden
The next Oak over 50s 'Drop-in Friday' will take place at Central Methodist Church on July 16 from 10am until 3pm. Activities include line dancing, sequence dancing, Tai Chi, board games, singing, the knitting clinic and 'writing for everyone' sessions. Refreshments including soup and a ploughman's platter are available. Tai Chi sessions also take place at Yew Tree Court, Walsden, on Fridays at 9.40am. The next Todmorden Walkabout will take place on July 18. The fortnightly Sunday walks, which explore local towpaths and lower hills, start at 11.15am outside Morrison's main entrance and last about two hours. New walkers are asked to arrive at 11am. Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton star in 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' at the Picture House on July 17 and 18. There will be a Calderdale Heritage Walk around Dean Clough and North Bridge on Sunday July 18. The walk will look at the importance of the North Bridge area as a crossing point down the centuries and the fortunes of the Dean Clough site from its origins of the world's largest carpet makers to today's centre for business and the arts.
