ON OCTOBER 20 members of Todmorden Community Brass Band will be travelling to Roncq to celebrate 25 years of twinning with the French town.
They are visiting Roncq with members of Todmorden Twinning Committee and while there will be playing several times including a joint concert with Roncq’s wind band L’Harmonie du Blanc Four. “Members are really excited about the trip,” said visit coor
dinator Liz Hinchcliffe, “we successfully applied to Todmorden Town Council for a £1000 grant towards transport costs, which has really helped.”

The band will be very busy in the run up to Christmas and the people of the Upper Valley can look forward to being entertained whilst out and about shopping. There will also be something different this year, a family orientated Christmas concert at St Mary’s - look out for more details closer to the time.

The band also has spaces available in the training band - this is for players of beginner to intermediate ability who enjoy playing with other people, reading easy and ensemble music.

The five note band - for players new to brass has also just started a new term so now is an ideal time to join if you have always fancied having a go but were’t sure how to go about it! Five note and training bands meet on a Monday night at The Bandroom, Wellington Road. Contact David White on 01706 815820.

The senior band also has vacancies for solo cornet and euphonium players, though any brass player would be made welcome. The committee is also looking for anyone who can spare a few hours each week to clean the band room for an agreed remuneration - contact David on 815820.
