MORE than 400 people called in to taste some delicious food or try their hand at some traditional Asian crafts at last Sunday's Eid celebration at Todmorden Town Hall.
Eid is the festival which ends the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the town's Integrate group, supported by Todmorden Together, arranged the event at Todmorden Town Hall.

It was an opportunity to have fun and learn more about the town's Asian com
munity, the religion of Islam, and what Ramadan - a time for fasting and reflection - and Eid mean.

Louise Castro, of Todmorden Together, said more than 400 people ensured a steady flow of visitors throughout the day.

"We had lots of fabulous food cooked with different families making a wonderful mix of dishes from Pakistani and Bangladesh. We had a whole host of children's activities including tile making, which utilised traditional skills," she said.

Other aspects of the day which proved very popular were Tariq Mahmood's T-shirt printing section, with the ability to put your picture and name in English or Urdu on your chest!

Louise said that the series of events held in Todmorden through the year, such as Churches Together's recent Harvest Festival, Foodfest, Kidsfest and others not only proved popular but brought all sections of the community together to learn more about each other and enjoying themselves when they did so.
