CALDER Valley models raised smiles and money for those who had suffered flooding in the area when they sashayed down the catwalk at the Fielden Centre, Todmorden, last Friday night.

Some of them were local volunteers for the occasion, and they and the audience alike enjoyed some professional standard lighting, photography, music and make-up to complete a night that was both fun and boosting funds, with proceeds from the event going to the area’s flood appeal, helping householders and businesses who lost so much when the area was hit by severe flooding on several occasions through the summer.

Called It’s Raining Men, the show was organised by Ruth Wild of Event Divas and Jo Royle of Royle Event Management and Promotion and with fashions and accessories for the show supplied by many local businesses, some members of the audience travelled from all over to take a look.

Ruth said: “It went really, really well and everybody had a fantastic time. People have texted us to say how much they enjoyed themselves. The models looked amazing and we were supported by businesses. The clothes and make-up looked fantastic.”

Among the volunteer models for the show were some of the men who use Bailey’s Gym at Walsden and they closed the show in enthusiastic and much appreciated style!

Ruth said: “The guys from the gym were last on and went out to the tune It’s Raining Men to close the show to a rousing reception.”

The organisers have still to collect some money in for the show before adding up the final total.
