Billy Lane, Wadsworth.
IN a leaflet being distributed by the local Liberal Democrats, they have made a number of pledges to “fix” Calderdale.

One of these pledges is to introduce a home insulation scheme in Calderdale “like the Lib Dems did in Kirklees, which is open to everyone and simple to apply for.”

I absolutely agree with the need to offer support for residents to improve the level of insulation.

Sadly this Labour Government will not fund hard to treat properties, which represents a huge percentage of homes in Calder Valley.

According to Warm Zone, the partner agency with Kirklees Council, the council has put in £9m. This level of funding equates to 11.25 per cent increase in council tax.

In the same leaflet, the Lib Dems have committed to make Calderdale the lowest council tax in West Yorkshire within three years!

So I would like to ask the Liberal Democrats in Calderdale to clearly outline how they intend to fund this “promise”.

GAIL LUND

Conservative Candidate, Calder Ward
