House of fun: Cast lined up for youth theatre's Madness musical
CALDER Valley Youth Theatre (CVYT) has cast the line up for its upcoming production of Our House following on from successful auditions.
In November, more than 30 ambitious young people will take to the stage at Halifax Playhouse to perform one of the West End's most popular productions, which features the hits of 80s and 90s pop band, Madness.
Dalton Wood, 16, will lead the cast alongside Lizzie Bradley, 15.
They will take on the roles of Joe and Sarah, two teenagers in love.
This year will be Dalton's second year with the Calder Valley Youth Theatre after his well-received lead in last year's 'West Side Story', with Lizzy Bradley making her group debut.
The other leads include Emmo, who is being played by Todd Wilson, 16, who also enjoyed his group stage debut last year; Lewis, played by Sam Harris, 17; and Georgia Lomax-Thorpe, 14, who has been cast as Billie alongside Ottie Gauvin, 15, who will be playing Angie.
The show is set to be one of the groups most ambitious yet as it sees the plot split into two parallel universes, based on the two paths Joe's life could take depending on whether he chooses to run away from his problems or face up to them.
The aspiring stars have been busy already rehearsing for their demanding roles as the production will see them showcasing more dance moves than in previous years as well as belting out classic Madness hits such as Baggy Trousers and Our House.
Co-director Stephen Garrod said: "This year we've got a fantastic line up of very capable and enthusiastic members who are already showing us the hard work and dedication that they're known for.
"The show is going to be absolutely spectacular and we can't wait to open."
The show will open at Halifax Playhouse in November.
