After wowing audiences in the upper Calder Valley last year, Dene Michael is returning to the area to perform classic hits and new material.
Dene, of the band Black Lace, will be at Todmorden Catholic Club on Saturday, June 23.
He will sing hits from Black Lace’s back catalogue including “Superman” and “Agadoo”, which are always crowd pleasers.
He will also showcase his new solo single “Lifeforce”, which will be released on July 16.
Dene, who married his wife Karen earlier this month, performed at the Catholic Club last year and is delighted to have been invited back.
“It was absolutely fantastic,” he said. “I took my family last year and I’m taking them again because everybody was so welcoming.
“It was a last minute thing last year - I stood in for someone who was ill.
“Everybody loved it so much that they asked me to get involved again. I’m looking forward to going back.
“I will be performing my new record, so people will be able to hear it.
“With England in the Euros, Black Lace have got a song called ‘We are the England fans’. That’s out now.
“It’s quite a catchy tune, a re-do of the ‘Music Man’.”
Phil Walters, of the Catholic Club, said: “It’s not often that a small club in Todmorden gets an artist of Dene’s calibre coming.”
Phil said entry is free and all are welcome. Dene will be on stage at about 9pm.
There will also be a guest spot by Rick Wild, of The Overlanders.
l Dene will be one of the special guests at Mytholmroyd Gala on June 30.
