Titanic to set sail in special show 100 years on

SEVERAL actors from the upper Calder Valley will take to the stage in a special production of Titanic the musical next week.

Halifax Amateur Operatic Society presents the show at the Victoria Theatre from April 10-14, 100 years after the luxury liner sank on its maiden voyage.

On closing night, a special performance will begin at 11.40pm, the exact moment the Titanic hit the iceberg on that fateful night in 1912.

Paul Addy, from the production team, said tickets are selling fast.

“It’s doing really, really well,” he said.

“I think it’s going to be a bit of a best seller.

“Everybody is really excited about the 11.40pm show because it’s never been done before.

“It’s a very emotional show. The first act is about people following their hopes and dreams.

“In the second act, it’s all about the emotional side of leaving their families.

“The lifeboat scene is very moving.”
