CANTORELLI is giving two performances of a programme of choral music which celebrates English, German and Austrian sacred music at 8pm on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3.
The Friday, May 2, concert is at Todmorden's historic, grade one listed Unitarian Church, Honey Hole, off Fielden Square, Todmorden (8pm) and the Saturday, May 3, performance is in the German Church, Great Horton Road, Bradford (7.30 pm).
Cantorelli is a small group of singers based in Hebden Bridge which performs varied programmes of mostly unaccompanied choral music from early medieval chants to contemporary songs.
In this programme the group are exploring and contrasting English and German sacred music. It includes motets by Thomas Tallis and Johann Schein, including rarely heard sacred madrigals from Schein's volume "Israelbrunnlein" and masses by William Byrd and Deitrich Buxtehude.
From the 19th century the programme includes anthems and motets by Charles Stanford and Anton Bruckner.
Both concerts are being given to support Todmorden Unitarian Church and the German Church in Bradford. Admission to each concert is £7 on t he door with concessionary rates of £5 and £1 for students.
