The team were planning to raise £30,000 to purchase a state-of-the-art Land Rover fully equipped with rescue facilities.
However, about a year ago they were invited by members of the Prince Frederick's Lodge No. 307, which is based in Hebden Bridge, to present a case for financial assistance to obtain a grant of £30,000.
At a dinner held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds last Saturday evening, held to celebrate 150 years of Masonic giving in the province, a total of £150,000 was donated to five organisations, all situated in the five areas which make up the Masonic province.
Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team were sponsored by the Prince Frederick Lodge in Area 2 and were granted the money. Formal presentation of the cheque will take place at the end of October but in the meantime the team can pursue its acquisition.
Team president Mr Bob Uttley said: "The team is overjoyed by the donation of this magnitude. It is a great boost to morale to know it has the warm support of an organisation such as the Freemasons."
