EASTWOOD Festival has been cancelled as the weather threatens flooding at Bridgeholme Cricket Club.
Tilly Chappell, events co-ordinator, has thanked everyone for all their help but said flood warnings for the weekend had forced the decision to cancel. The fourth Eastwood Festival was due to take place this Sunday, September 7, hosted by Eastwood Residents' Association at Bridgeholme Cricket Club, on Halifax Road between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.
Tilly said on Friday morning: "There are already puddles on the pitch where we don't normally have puddles, so it's changing dramatically all the time. We've had flood warnings, with two inches expected today and two inches tomorrow and high winds forecast, so it's a no-brainer really: We have to cancel."
"It's such a shame because it was going to be great but at this time of the year we can't really postpone because we don't know if we could re-book the performers and it could be like this again anyway.
"I'd like to thank everyone for all their hard work, especially Susan Shaw, who has been a big help. And I'd like to thank everyone for their on-going support and hopefully they will all join us next year."
