Glad to go to these lengths to raise cash for swimathon cause

SWIMMERS young and older took to the water at Todmorden Sports Centre as part of the world's largest swimming fundraising event.
The sponsored swimathon, being held to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Swimming Foundation, proved so popular that the sports centre had to put on an extra session on Friday April 18 and added another lane at the time slot on Sunday April 20.
One girl, aged six, swam 40 lengths, an eight-year-old kept going for a mile (64 lengths) and several people completed the five kilometre challenge.
Wayne Allen, duty manager at the sports centre, thanked his staff for getting behind the event and making it a success.
l THREE girls teamed up to swim a mile for Marie Curie Cancer Care at the swimathon at Todmorden Sports Centre.
Megan Shackleton, Lizzie Wrench and Faye Norman swam the 64 lengths in 32 minutes and 53 seconds, cheered on by Megan's sister, Lois. They raised £326.50 for the charity.
