YOU'VE heard of Britain's Got Talent - well, Walsden is looking for it, and you're being given a chance to prove you have it!
Walsden's Looking For Talent is being organised by Joanne Schofield, who is steward at Walsden Cricket Club and the competition will be held at the club, in Scott Street, Walsden, through October and November on Friday evenings.
Joanne explained tha
t each heat will produce a winner to go through to the next round until a final night line-up is in place.
For the audience each night there will be a charge of £1 on the door and a raffle will be held at each event.
As well as providing entertainment and an enjoyable time, resulting increased bar trade will also benefit the club, she said.
Although Walsden's Looking For Talent heats will not take place until the autumn the competition is now open to entries and you can start honing your act, says Joanne.
"We're wanting people to come along, have a good laugh and hopefully someone might get some recognition from it," she said.
"Your act can be anything as long as you think its talented, although there may be some ideas that may not be acceptable."
Joanne says acts need to be no more than about five minutes long and the entry fee for contestants will be £5. This will build up to a prize pot for the competition's eventual winner and runner-up.
Entries will certainly be judged by their peers (as opposed to Piers - Morgan, one of the judges on the television show) as Joanne plans the judging line-up to include local residents.
The closing date for entries is August 31, 2009, and you can write to Joanne for an entry form - send a stamped addressed envelope so a form can be returned to you to 685 Rochdale Road, Walsden, Todmorden, OL14 6SX.
