A TOTAL of fourteen dancers from the Dawn Chapman School of Dance based in Lydgate, attended the Inter School Dance Championships which were held at the Manaco Ballroom in Hindley, Wigan.
At this competition each girl went onto dance through a selection of between one to four dances in each of the Ballroom and Latin American sections.

An important part of the Inter schools programme of events, was a competition where dancers from e
ach participating dance school had to partner another dancer from a different school and compete against other couples in the Ballroom and Latin sections - dancing with a complete stranger is a great way to break the ice and make new friends!

First place in both sections of the Inter School competition were awarded to Raven Eames age 10 who had partnered Arienne Linden aged eight from the Jolleys Dance and Drama School which is based in Bolton, both girls were estatic and walked away with a new found friendship as did many other dancers.

To carry on the fun part of the day a parent and child competition was also held where two of our parents also did very well, Estelle and Chelsea Judson came second in the Ballroom section whilst Janet and Susannah Leah also took second place in the Latin section.

To finish off with, were the Champion of Champions sections, here each winner from each individual dance ranging from the one to four dance were then pitted against each other to become the Champion of Champions in their grades.

A wonderful day was had by everyone who took part with all the dancers doing extremely well and between each of them the Dawn Chapman School of Dance came away with a fantastic total of thirty five first place and twenty, second place trophies throughout the course of the day.

Dancers pictured, left to right, are, back row: Corrine Arnold, Chelsea Judson, Sophie Mill, Sarah Howarth, Cathy Barker, Starr Eames and Raven Eames; centre, Susannah Leah, Shelley Mill and Katie Arnold; front row: Romina Thomas. Not pictured but there on the day were Rhiannon Beach, Sophie Lally and Olivia Krogulski.
