THREE people have been remanded in custody following a serious assault on a disabled man in Calderdale.
Andrew Gorton, 20 of Burnley Road, and Jonathan Jackson, 18 of Robinwood Terrace, both from Todmorden, and a teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared before Calderdale magistrates only to answer their names and addresses.

The three were charged with wounding with intent and an assault.

Damian Shepherd, 42, who has cerebral palsy, suffered extensive head and face injuries following an alleged attack by a gang of three in Cornholme just before midnight on Wednesday.

He is being treated at the Royal Oldham Hospital where he remains in intensive care and on a ventilator.

A second man, Thomas Croft, 25 was assaulted following a similar attack on April 23.

He was attacked in the same location as Mr Shepherd.

They will next appear before Calderdale magistrates on May 7.
