THE future is uncertain for five pubs in Todmorden as the company which owns them has gone into receivership.
Emery Holdings Limited, owner of The Queen Hotel, Rise Lane; The Bramsche Bar, Rochdale Road; The Platinum Complex, Oddfellows Hall; The Weavers Arms, Blind Lane, and The Rope and Anchor, Halifax Road, is now in the care of Begbies Traynor of Preston
.
Paul Daley, general manager of The Queen, said they were open as usual.
And Jamie Payne, manager of the Weavers Arms, said it was business as usual at the moment.
But the Platinum Suite club complex is closed.
The Emery Holdings group was founded by Paul Emery who initially ran the Cross Keys, later sold, at Walsden in the early 1990s before buying and renovating the historic hotel in the run up to the Millennium. In addition to the traditional hotel side of the business a state-of-the-art leisure club and complex became part of the new look Queen.
Into the new century the portfolio was also expanded to include the Platinum Complex, formerly the Blue Note club, the town centre premises being completely renovated.
In addition to regular club nights the club also hosted a disco for young people and popular niche music nights which has seen some of the biggest DJ names in dance and indie appear there.
