VISITORS from Calderdale's twin area of Strakonice and Blatna in the Czech Republic spent a day in Todmorden as part of a week-long stay with their host families.
They sampled a traditional fish and chip lunch at Grandma Pollard's in Walsden, followed by a reception at Todmorden Town Hall hosted by Mayor of Todmorden, Coun Julie Stansfield, and Deputy Mayor of Calderdale, Coun David O'Neill.
Coun Stansfield showed them around the Mayor's parlour, Coun O'Neill gave them a guided tour of other parts of the town hall and they had tea and biscuits afterwards. The visitors then had some free time to explore Todmorden.
Helen Lunt, from the Calderdale Strakonice Twinning Association, said they enjoyed the fish and chips. She said: "For the majority who have not been before, it was an experience for them."
Blanka Malinova has come over eight times since 1992 when the agreement between Calderdale and Strakonice was made. She said: "I have enjoyed my visit. It's very friendly here and I have made friends in the CSTA."
