Centre Vale Park Playgroup, Todmorden, Christmas party - a wave for our readers!

A playgroup has celebrated its first Christmas at its home as it prepares to leave its headquarters for 40 years.

Centre Vale Park Playgroup is the longest running playgroup in Todmorden and has been based at the Recreation Room near the bowling greens at the park for the last four decades.

Generations of Todmorden mothers, babies and toddlers have enjoyed playing and growing together, but they are now in a poor state of repair and the council plans to demolish it.

The playgroup is not moving far - their new base will be the Fielden Centre on Ewood Lane - just yards from their original base.

That means the group will still have easy access to the park, which has always been considered an asset by them.

The Fielden Centre allowed the group use of its hall for the Christmas party, ahead of the full move early in 2015.

They enjoyed Christmas fun, games and party food, with some entertaihnment from Magic Morris and his Christmas Magic and Mayhem Show. Children were also thrilled when they had a visit from Father Christmas.

The playgroup reopens at the Fielden Centre on Monday, January 5, and will be there every Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Magic Morris - experienced entertainer Maurice Heath - will be showcasing his new show for pre-school children in the first three weeks of the new year.

You can find the group on Facebook, e-mail them at at CentreValePlaygroup@gmail.com or call Caroline Chapman on 07504 608 635 for any further information.
