A plea for bus service to extend its rural reach

COUNCILLORS have asked a bus operator to extend one of its services to reach an isolated part of Todmorden.

Members of Todmorden Town Council’s development committee have written to Metro to ask if at least one of Tyrer’s mid-morning and mid-afternoon services to Kilnhurst can be extended to go up to Dale Avenue.

Coun Frank McManus said: “Some residents at Kilnhurst are reliant on public transport or lifts from friends.”

The town council has also asked Metro to approach Stagecoach to see if the operator can install a direct Todmorden to Keighley service.

Coun Mark Catterall said: “If Stagecoach don’t want to run the Keighley service, we should see if other bus operators would run it.

“It’s quite a good tourist service in the summer.”
