POLICE are taking action on some of a safety campaign group’s concerns, but members believe there is still work to be done.
Todmorden Accident Prevention Council heard from Police Community Safety Officers that issues concerning cyclists riding on pavements and drivers using mobile phones while driving and others not wearing seatbelts were being tackled.
Both are issues which the council has been pursuing throughout the year.
PCSO Westby told members that since the council’s last meeting a number of cyclists had been spoken to and advised by police. Members said they were pleased some action had been taken but felt the problem was still some way from being completely solved and it involved all age groups.
PCSO Evans told members that when police officers saw the driving offences outlined above they did take appropriate action. Again, members hoped that such checks would be increased.
