SOME magnificent beasts in the Todmorden Agricultural Show cattle section drew plenty of admiring - and respectful - glances.
Section secretary Philip Stephenson and stewarding team of Brent Furness and Robert Gibbons were kept busy well into the afternoon.
Overall section champion went to Pat Varley, of Queensbury, for Limousin heifer Millington Fabulous, and was awarded the T. Trafford Cup.
Reserve champion and W. Smith Cup winner were Cropper/Mellin, of Long Preston, North Yorkshire, with Belgium Blue cross heifer Blond Bomshell.
Any other continental beef breed champion was Mr W. Seals, with the any other native beef breed champion - and Jim Bracewell Memorial Plate winner - being P. and M. Stanley.
Champion Hereford, winning the Edward Swale Rose Bowl, was Mr B. J. Boulton, with Mr Hall the reserve champion.
Mr Gibbon judged two young handler competitions. Chris Walker won the Stephenson Young Handler Trophy in the under 14 section, while the Blackburn Trophy for winning the 14 to 18 years section went to Miss Summers.
Champion dairy animal went to Mr Hitchen, who won the Lord Challenge Cup, with the reserve champion being Mr Midgley.
In the commercial beef classes, champion commercial beef went to Mr Mellin/Cropper, and they were awarded the T. Eastwood Trophy, with Mr Seals being the reserve champion.
The other judges were Ms E. Wilson (continental beef), Mr L. Cox (native beef), Mr M. Dodd (Hereford), Mr Robin Boothman (dairy) and Mr Sam Howarth (commercial beef).
