HAREWOOD House near Leeds was the destination for Todmorden’s Oak group, with about 40 members going on the outing and enjoying the day.

They had lunch in the grounds, visited the gardens and bird park, and went on a tour of the stately home.

Oak held its annual meeting this week and autumn activities are about to gather pace.

Coming soon to Oak is a calligraphy class and a paper sculpture class. These have proved very popular in the past, so members are again asked to get their names down early, say the committee.

The group is still without a singing teacher as David Barker, who ran the feel-good singing group, left to become a missionary in Africa in July. If anyone knows anyone who could start the singing group again could they contact an OAK committee member on 01706 813969.

Oak is an over 50s group and meet every Friday from 10am to 3pm at Central Methodist Church, Bramsche Square, Todmorden, for Tai Chi, line dancing, sequence dancing, crafts, quizzes and lunch. Everyone is welcome
