Award for life-saving pair of police officers

Two Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers who helped save a man’s life when he suffered a heart attack have landed a Royal Humane Society Commendation.

PCs Lisa McDonald and Ash Hussain, from the Upper Calder Valley NPT, were on patrol in Todmorden town centre in October last year when they came across a 58-year-old man who had collapsed in the bus station.

PCs McDonald and Hussain immediately placed him into a recovery position and offered first aid until paramedics arrived.

Calderdale Divisional Commander Chf Supt Chris Hardern said: “I am proud of their actions as they undoubtedly helped save a man’s life.”
