You’ve heard of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Hebden’s Bridge’s - well, Todmorden will soon have one too!
The aim of the Summer Bank Holiday Party on Sunday, August 24, hosted by businesses in the heritage shopping area of Water Street and Dale Street, is to gather interst and support for a Todmorden Fringe 2015 event.
Events will run from 3pm to 9pm with many of the businesses between Cbheeky Sew-And-Sew on Dale Street to Midas Moon on Water Street will be taking part.
Matthanee Nilavongse, of Hanuman Thai restaurant and and 3 Wise Monkeys bar, said: “It’s a little showcase of the performers that we have got in Todmorden. We hope to bring in business to Water Street and raise funds for a Todmorden Fringe 2015 event.”
Activities will include a workshop at Cheeky Sew-and-Sew sewing cafe, a flea market for local people to sell their products, a spoken word and comedian event at Midas Moon, street food and entertainment at the 3 Wise Monkeys including a DJ set from Andy Kershaw.
Andy’s Radio One programmes were famed for their sheer breadth of high quality music from many genres from the 80s to the 2000s and recently he has been manning the turntables again more regularly than for a while.
Todmorden Fringe 2015 aims to incorporate art, music, a parade and children’s activities by local artists, performers and craftspeople.
