Bid for changes to make approach route safer

CALDER Valley safety campaigners are liaision with a Lancashire council over potential dangers on a major approach road to the area.

Coun Anne James informed members of Todmorden Accident Prevention Council that she had recently met a member of Lancashire County Council’s highways department to speak about the nearness of the traffic signal stop line at the sharp bend at Windy Bridge, Copy Pit, on the approach to Cornholme.

She reported there was broad agreement between herself and the official and she was hopeful the signal line can be moved back in the Burnley direction by some distance - this would also involve moving the horse crossing and car movement censors at the location.

The single file traffic situation existed because of concerns over the bridge’s stability.
