Snow causing chaos on Calderdale roads

Calderdale is set for a cold day today (Thursday) with spells of snow throughout the day

There will be lows of 0C and lows of 1C. Wind speeds will reach up to 15 miles per hour.

Traffic is starting to build up on the major roads in Calderdale.

One lane blocked and there is slow traffic on the M62 westbound between junction 24, A629 (Ainley Top) and junction 23, A640 (Huddersfield), because of an accident. Traffic is also slow between junctions 22 and 25 as wagons are struggling to get grip.

On the A641 Huddersfield Road in Brighouse traffic is busy but moving outbound at the Bethel Street junction.

There is one lane closed and queuing traffic on the M62 westbound between junction 23, A640 (Huddersfield) and junction 22, A672 (Rishworth Moor), because of a broken down vehicle. Congestion is back to junction 26, M606 (Chain Bar).

Traffic on the A629 Cow Green in Halifax is busy but moving in both directions at the Bull Green junction.

Traffic on the A58 Bolton Brow in Sowerby Bridge is busy but moving around the A6026 Wakefield Road traffic lights junction.

On the A58 Wharf Street in Sowerby Bridge traffic is busy but moving in both directions at the A6139 Tuel Lane junction.

Traffic on the A58 Aachen Way in Halifax is busy but moving at the Queen’s Road junction.

There is traffic congestion on the A58 Godley Lane eastbound in Stump Cross before the A6036 Bradford Road junction.

Traffic on Huddersfield Road in Halifax is busy but moving northbound between the A646 Dryclough Lane junction and the Ward’s End junction.

Traffic on the A58 Aachen Way in Halifax is busy but moving at the Queen’s Road junction.

Buses are stuck and cars are crashing into walls in Heptonstall.

Firefighters in Halifax have been out helping to push stranded vehicles out of the snow.

There are no cancellations bus services at the moment, but some services will be avoiding minor road which are not yet gritted.

There are currently no reported problems on the trains.
