Call out for more adoptive families to come forward

Adoption makes a massive difference to young people’s and parent’s lives - but Calderdale needs more adopters.

The borough has a shortage of adoptive families, so the council has launched a campaign with a key message of “adoption - help them make it real” to urge people to consider adopting some of the area’s most vulnerable children who are in need of loving homes.

A spokesman said: “Could you provide a happy home for a child who can’t live with their birth parents?

“We know it’s a big decision but the council’s adoption team will support you every step of the way.

“We appreciate you’ll have lots of questions.”

You can talk to the team face-to-face at a series of launch events, including at Todmorden (near the outdoor market), on Thursday, August 29, 11am to 1pm, and at Hebden Bridge (St George’s Square), on Friday, August 30, from 11am to 1pm.

Anyone who is interested in adoption can contact the council on 0845 245 6000.
