About 50 people came up the Unitarian tower, Todmorden, over Heritage weekend to see and hear the recently restored bells and musical chiming system.
The chimes play four tunes, originally daily, but now only on special occasions: Hanover by Croft , “O Worship the King”; Life let us cherish by Mozart; a Scottish hymn tune by Rousseau; and Home Sweet Home. They also saw the clock, and a bell being rung. Anyone who missed it will be able to see a bellringing demonstration in St Mary’s Church, Todmorden, on Saturday, September 19, 10am to noon. Coffee and cakes available and the opportunity to have a go.
