Bus users in outlying parts of the upper Calder Valley face upheaval next year with plans to cut the direct service into Halifax from Heptonstall and Old Town.
Metro and First are reviewing bus services in Hebden Bridge, with First proposing to change services 591 and 593 at the end of January 2014 so that they run a ten-minute frequency between Halifax and Todmorden via Hebden Bridge.
A Metro spokesperson said: “To achieve this there will no longer be a direct service to Halifax from Heptonstall and Old Town.
“Metro is proposing a revised minibus network for the area which will both address recent unreliability problems and maintain the links to Hebden Bridge which would be lost following the changes to services 591 and 593.”
Metro and First will be holding two drop-in public consultations in August. The first is on Wednesday (August 7), between 10am and 6.30pm at Hebden Bridge Town Hall, with the second on Thursday, August 15, between 2.30pm and 6.30pm at Halifax Bus Station.
More information on Metro and First’s proposals, and a link to an on-line questionnaire, can be found on Metro’s web site at http://www.wymetro.com/Hebden_Bridge_Bus_Review.aspx
Questions and responses can also be emailed to email@example.com. The consultation is open until Monday, September 9.
