WHEN Don Case held a celebration to mark his 60th birthday he wanted charities to benefit from the occasion.

So for the bash at Todmorden Cricket Club on March 19, he asked for donations to Leukaemia Research instead of presents and was delighted when friends and family generously raised a total of £956.92.

Out of the amount raised a donation was also given to Overgate Hospice for the kind and generous help of both Gary Davies, who organised the disco, and Doug Peavoy, who donated and printed T-shirts to be raffled.

Don, of Todmorden, said Ham Corner provided an excellent supper to round off a hugely enjoyable evening and thanks to all who contributed.
