A hairdresser is encouraging people to call in for a trim as part of her efforts to highlight the work of a cancer charity.

Georgia Farrell, a stylist based at Tanz, on Rochdale Road, Todmorden, has organised a fundraising day on Saturday, November 30, from noon until 4pm, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Georgia, 18, will be charging £3 per cut, with all the money being donated to the charity. “Macmillan have really helped my family, so I just wanted to do something to thank them,” she said.

The former Todmorden High School student is being supported in her fundraising efforts by the Mayor of Todmorden Coun Jayne Booth.

“It’s brilliant to have her on board,” Georgia said.

Coun Booth is also in the process of organising a Mayor’s charity night at Todmorden Town Hall on Friday, November 29, at 7.30pm featuring a Christmas curry, live music and an auction.

She has raised £3,000 so far for her mayoral charity, Overgate Hospice, and hopes to reach £5,000 by Christmas.

“We have been deeply moved by all the support we have received,” she said.
