CHILDREN showed the art of fundraising during a special day of activities.

Pupils at Todmorden C of E School and its link school Cliffe Hill in Lightcliffe made murals using coins they have been collecting for charity.

The murals will be sent to the Todmorden school’s link diocese in Mara.

Steven Prince, a teacher at Cliffe Hill, said: “This is a way of using the money in a more productive way. It’s also a way of getting the schools together.”

The activity was one of several which took place as Cliffe Hill pupils visited Todmorden.

Children thought of questions to ask so they could find out more about what their counterparts were doing at each school.

Teacher Mel Taylor, from Todmorden C of E School, said: “We gave them an opportunity to find out what it’s like to live in each other’s area.

“They thought of questions to ask about what they are doing in their school.”

Children from the Todmorden school will make a return visit to Cliffe Hill to see its new school building once it is completed.

“We are really excited to get them here and to go over to their school later in the year,” she said.

Pupils will take part in fundraising activities to support Smartmove.
