A community stalwart who championed the needs of people with disabilities has died.
Lucette Beales, 85, was a founding member of the Calder Valley Club, a respite day-care centre for adults on Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd.
The club reached its 30th anniversary this year.
Algeria-born Mrs Beales was a Freeman of Calderdale and also chairwoman of many other groups across the area.
She and her husband John had two sons, Gerald and Trevor.
Close friend Father John Gott said she had great determination for making life better for those with disabilities.
He added: “One of her great passions was for access to buildings and transport for people with disabilities, even getting a special train driven to Hebden Bridge to ensure it was wheelchair-friendly.”
Her funeral was held yesterday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mytholmroyd.
