Saturday, March 12, sees Todmorden Orchestra’s usual “curtain-raiser” at the Central Methodist Church Hall at Bramsche Square, Todmorden, with a bric-a-brac sale and coffee morning.
As always members of the orchestra look forward to meeting friends and everybody else who drops in for the event, starting at 10am, writes Bill Hunter.
Tickets for the Spring Concert, which is held at Todmorden Town Hall a week later on Saturday, March 19 (7.30pm) will be on sale at the coffee morning and these can also be obtained at Todmorden Tourist Information Centre, from the orchestra secretary on 01706 817333 or at the Town Hall door on the night. Charges are £10 and £8 for concessions, with children under 16 able to attend for just £1.
The programme is varied and full of good music, including a performance by two talented soloists playing the well-known and much-loved concerto for flute and harp by Mozart.
The flautist, Charlotte Walls has performed regularly as a concert soloist and recital player in many parts of the country.
Award-winning harpist Louise Thomson will also be featured.
Along with the Mozart Concerto the orchestra will perform Schubert’s Rosamunde Overture and the Symphony No 1 by Brahms.
