Restraining order after harassing home staff

A MAN has been handed a restraining order after he harassed staff caring for his mother.

Philip MacFarlane, 48, was abusive towards staff at the Asquith Hall Care Home, Burnley Road, Todmorden.

Magistrates found him guilty of harassment without violence at a trial at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court on November 27.

The offences took place over 12 months from May 2011 to May 2012.

After lengthy deliberations at a sentencing hearing MacFarlane, of Huddersfield Road, Brighouse, was given an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting a member of staff at the home.

He will still be allowed to contact his mother using Skype but this has to be arranged through a third party.

He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the community and will pay £200 compensation.
