Cuts protesters lobby at MP’s forum

ANTI-CUTS protesters lobbied Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker at his open forum at Hebden Bridge Town Hall.

The lobby was organised by Calderdale Save Our Services (CSOS) who said they wanted to show their opposition to the Coalition Government plans to “cut deep into essential services in health, education and local authority provision which are not wanted or needed.”

A spokesman for the group said that in the forum members of CSOS argued that if all the tax avoided or evaded by wealthy individuals and corporations was collected in addition to taxing the banks more, there would be no need to “implement an austerity package that hit the poor hardest and put large numbers of workers on the dole.”
