A SCOUT Leader from Todmorden has had the honour of carrying the Olympic flame.
Emma Whitham, who by day works for the Halifax bank in Sowerby Bridge, was nominated by a work colleague for her passionate work and dedication as a Scout leader with 20th Todmorden Scouts.
The 29-year-old carried the flame on Day 13 in Hindley near Wigan last week.
Over the last five years she has taken an active role in running weekly scout meetings and annual scout camps as well as helping to produce the annual Todmorden Gang Show.
She is currently planning an international trip to Switzerland where the Scouts will have the opportunity to take part in community projects, mountaineering, white water rafting and much more.
Emma said: “I am very proud to be taking part in this historic relay.
“If it wasn’t for my involvement with the scouts I don’t think I would have ever done anything like this, Scouting offers so many opportunity’s to people both young and old it’s amazing.”
Group Scout leader Allan Lawrence said: “We are all very proud of Emma and she deserves this moment to shine for her dedication and commitment to scouting.
“The Olympics and scouting have a very similar aims and one of them is to inspire people, we are always on the lookout for inspirational people to join our team.”
