Environment Agency issue flood alert - June 28

THE Environment Agency have issued a flood alert for the whole of the length of the River Calder, from Todmorden to Brighouse.

They issued the alert just after 10am as heavy downpours are likely over Yorkshire and the North East today, with the band of rain moving in from the south west which will reach West Yorkshire around noon.

THe EA says this may cause some surface water and fluvial flooding. The rain band will continue to move steadily northeast, clearing the area in the afternoon.

Brearley Fields in Mytholmroyd are expected to flood. Centre Vale Park in Todmorden is not expected to flood because the river is not forecast to reach the required level, it says.
