Rebecca Taylor MEP paid her first visit to Todmorden since taking up her new role.

The newest Member of the European Parliament for Yorkshire and Humberside visited Todmorden Market with fellow Liberal Democrats Olwen Jennings and Coun Janet Battye and met many stallholders - and bumped into a number of school friends.

She dropped in to the Methodist Church coffee morning where she met her first school teacher Mrs Betty Crabtree who taught her at Robinwood School from 1979 to 1982 and also met her former careers teacher Coun David O’Neill and his wife Susan.

Rebecca also popped in to the Age UK celebration and coffee morning, where she met Mayor of Todmorden Coun Richard White and one of her former Todmorden High School teachers, Dorothy Jordan. Rebecca used to do research work for Age UK in a previous job.

She said: “It was great to come back to Todmorden and meet so many old friends and acquaintances.”
