EIGHTY youngsters put on their running shoes for the first Todmorden Teddy Toddle.
The event, organised by Overgate Hospice, saw families head to Centre Vale Park, Todmorden, for a day of fun activities, despite the wet weather.
Deirdra Johnston, manager of the Todmorden branch of Overgate Hospice, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day.
“The weather was totally against us but around 80 kids and their mums and dads came to toddle with us, which was brilliant.”
All the children who participated received a toddle pack and a special certificate.
“The fact that the kids had such a good time, that was the main thing,” she said.
“The families all enjoyed themselves and came out to support us.”
Crews from Todmorden Fire Station attended the event with their mascots Freddy the Fire Engine and Blaze Bear.
A Punch and Judy show proved very popular, as did a ‘Guess the name of the teddy bear cake’ competition.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who turned up on the day. They made it wonderful,” she said.
Deirdra thanked the fire service, Todmorden Lions, the Hare and Hounds pub for providing use of its car park on the day, and all the businesses who supported the event.
“It went really, really well,” she said.
“Hopefully next time we do one, the weather is going to be a lot better and more people will turn up.”
