VICAR of St Peter’s Church, Walsden, the Rev Christine Smith, led a team cooking pancakes at the first of some community events at the church.

Local families attended the event to mark Shrove Tuesday, and as well as enjoying pancakes they were able to play games and create pancake faces.

The next church event is also one in which much of the country will be celebrating - the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

St Peter’s is hosting A Right Royal Do on April 16 from 2.30pm at the church.

Music, dancing and games will be on the agenda and people are invited to come dressed up in wedding gear (although the organisers stress it’s not obligatory!)

Entry is £1 for adults with accompanied children free, or unaccompanied children 50p. Refreshments will be available.
