As the end of the year dawns, fundraising has began for the release of two 2015 community calendars that portray the events of this year, including paintings from the Tour de France.
The Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team and Overgate Hospice will launch their new calendars over the next couple of weeks and are both aiming to raise critical funds for the hospice and the search and rescue team.
The Hospice will showcase artwork from the Halifax Art Society depicting representations of Ogden water, Hardcastle Crags, the Grand Depart, and the Rushbearing Parade, among others.
While the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team are producing a picturesque photographic calendar with places around the region, including Norland Moor, Halifax, Beacon Hill, Mytholmroyd, Hardcastle Crags, Stoodley Pike, Heptonstall Quarry, Bronte County near Howarth and more.
Janet Gledhill, secretary of the art society, said: “We feel proud and honoured to support such a worthy cause as Overgate. Knowing we are part of the fundraising that is so vital to the continuation of the services the hospice provides for our area give a purpose to our painting.”
The search and rescue team are aiming to raise £5,000 to go towards a vehicle fund to replace their ageing emergency response vehicles.
The hospice calendars are on sale at the Elland hospice, its 11 charity shops, the hospice website and Harvey’s Department Store, Halifax, for £3.
