Fundraising for British Legion in anniversary year

DONATIONS are being sought for a market stall to raise money for the Royal British Legion, which marks its 90th anniversary this year, on Remembrance Sunday.

Belle Riley and other volunteers will be at Todmorden Market from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, November 13, where they will be selling bric-a-brac, home baking, books, and running a lucky dip.

She said: “It’s a very important anniversary for the Royal British Legion and they need every penny. Many people know the work they do and that work needs to continue. They are now dealing with people coming back from recent conflicts and there is still a need for their work,” she said.

People can drop off items for any of the categories listed above at the Legion club, White Hart Fold, Todmorden, or at the PAWS stall at Todmorden Market this Sunday (make sure they are labelled “British Legion”) or to the stall on the day itself.
