RESIDENTS are being asked to get on their bikes at this year’s South Pennines Walk and Ride festival.

There will be more cycle events than ever before at this year’s festival, which will coincide with the inaugural Calderdale Cycling Festival.

The two-wheeled fun will start off in the upper Calder Valley on Saturday, September 10, when cyclist in Hebden Bridge attempt the ‘Up the Buttress’.

There will also be a chance to explore the Calder Valley viewpoints on Thursday, September 15, with a road ride from Sowerby Bridge up towards Midgley and along the north of the Calder Valley.

For those wanting to go the extra 15 miles, there is a cycle ride along the Calderdale loop from 10am on Saturday, September 17.

There is plenty more for riders to explore and for further information visit www.walkandridefestival.co.uk or pick up a festival programme, from a tourist information centre, library or railway stations in the South Pennines.
