The floods which hit the upper Calder Valley on Boxing Day left the Church of the Good Shepherd in Mytholmroyd in a catastrophic state.

Although there is much repair work left to carry out, the church will re-open on Sunday, March 20, with a Family Mass at 10am.

During the rest of the week the following services will also take place, said a spokesperson from Hebden Royd Churches Together.

On Monday, March 21, at 11am there will be a Requiem Mass for Veronica Bowmer, and at 7.30pm there will be a Penitential Service. Then on Tuesday, March 22, at 11am there will be a Requiem Mass for Margaret Vinters.

On Wednesday, March 23, Holy Mass will be said at 12.15pm. Maundy Thursday, March 24, will see a Mass of the Last Supper at 8pm.

On Good Friday, a Solemn Liturgy will be conducted at 3pm. Holy Saturday will see Easter Vigil Ceremonies begin at 8pm and then on Easter Sunday there will be a Family Mass at 10am.

l While out of use, the ecumenical co-operative made Hebden Royd Methodist Church, Hebden Bridge, available for Good Shepherd Church’s Sunday service.
