CHILDREN at a village playgroup had a special treat when one of their grandma’s came in to give them a baking lesson.

Youngsters at the Bats (babies and toddlers) group, which meets regularly at Lumbutts Methodist Church, made fairy cakes and then sampled their baked buns.

Janet Jowett, who helps to run the group, said: “It’s something new the group is trying out, getting the little ones involved in baking.

“We are going to try out the baking every second week with grandma Joan.”

On November 29, the children will be making their own mince pies.

The playgroup meets every Tuesday at Lumbutts Methodist Church between 9.30am and 11am.

New members are welcome to attend.
