Great Rock Co-op celebrated its first birthday in style last Saturday with a fantastic cake made by local baker Barbara Hyde and fizz and nibbles for customers.

The AGM heard that the shop at Staups Lane, Todmorden, on its border with Blackshaw Head, open on Saturdays, has managed to turn over almost £40,000 in its first year. “Best of all,’ said Angie Guy, Treasurer of GRC, “more than 80 per cent of that money goes straight back into the local economy, allowing small local businesses to develop and expand. That is exactly what we set out to do and we’re delighted it’s working.“

“We’ve had a brilliant first year,” said chairperson, Jan Melloy. “Thanks to the dedication of our local producers and the loyalty of our customers, we’ve gone from strength to strength and are looking forward to bigger and better things in the future.”
