The worst flooding in living memory has meant the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade has been cancelled.
The River Calder burst its banks leaving the centre of Hebden Bridge engulfed by water.
Homeowners were left bailing water out of their homes as torrential overnight rain poursed down.
Parade organiser Rebecca Dearden said: “We sincerely apologise to everyone who has worked so hard to get ready for today.
“Our thoughts go out to all our participants, neighbours and a few of our artists whose houses and businesses were flooded yesterday.”
Chair of the Handmade Parade CIC Linda Green said she was hopeful the parade would be rearranged for next Saturday June 30.
“It’s the first time we’ve ever had to cancel,” she said. “The first parade five years ago was called Deluge of Delight we’re just glad it wasn’t that them this year now.”
Organisers are in discussions with the Council and police about rescheduling the event and expect to have confirmation by Monday.
