A PUBLIC meeting will be held next week to discuss preparations for the Todmorden Tea.
A “gigantic” tea party is planned in Todmorden to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee over the bank holiday weekend in June.
The meeting upstairs at the Golden Lion, Fielden Square, on Monday at 6.30pm is open to anybody interested in getting involved with the event, which will be held on Todmorden outdoor market.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “It’s going to be a gigantic Todmorden Tea with a 1950s flavour.
“People can dress up in 50s clothing, tuck into spam sandwiches and all sorts of retro stuff.”
The event will also feature a pollination parade involving local children to launch the Green Route around town.
The Todmorden Tea has already attracted the support of councillors and Upper Calder Charities Assist.
