MANY people followed in the footsteps of Jesus by taking part in traditional Good Friday events.

Members of the congregation at several parishes gathered at St Joseph’s Church, Todmorden, for the walk of witness, organised by Todmorden Churches Together.

Parishioners followed the large wooden cross as it was carried along Burnley Road to the Peace Garden for a service of hymns and prayer, with music provided by Todmorden Community Brass Band.

More than 50 people took part in the annual stations of the cross in Hebden Bridge. Church members carried a small cross on the one-mile journey up to Horsehold, where a giant cross was erected overlooking the town.

At various points along the way, parishioners re-enacted the various stations.

On Easter Sunday, a “Son Rise” service was held at Horsehold at 6am, led by Father John Gott, who started the stations walk 30 years ago.
